Compliance Officer / Legal Counsel (UK)
Own the UK regulatory and legal posture of the firm, with particular attention to the FCA perimeter, data protection, and the firm's contractual relationships.
Compensation: £60,000 to £85,000 base, plus equity
About the Role
Gravenos has been built with deliberate attention to its regulatory position. The Drusus platform is positioned outside the FCA regulatory perimeter as a producer of analytical commentary rather than investment advice. The firm has, however, identified a regulatory engagement programme that includes the FCA Innovation Hub. This role exists to lead that engagement and to ensure the firm's contractual, data-protection, and operational posture remains sound as it scales.
Responsibilities
- Lead the firm's engagement with the FCA Innovation Hub, in collaboration with external counsel.
- Own the firm's data-protection posture under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the relationship with the Information Commissioner's Office.
- Maintain the firm's legal framework (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Financial Disclaimer) as the platform evolves.
- Lead the contracting work with vendors, partners, and large subscribers.
- Advise the firm on regulatory matters as the platform scales into adjacent territory.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualified UK solicitor or compliance professional with five or more years of relevant financial services experience.
- Substantial familiarity with the FCA regulatory perimeter and the regulatory analysis appropriate to a product like ours.
- Strong UK GDPR and data-protection knowledge.
- Capability to operate as the sole legal and compliance professional in a small firm; able to identify when external counsel is warranted.
Helpful but Not Required
- SMCR-designated experience.
- Prior fintech or analytical-product experience.
- Familiarity with the regulatory environment in Hong Kong (SFC, HKMA).
